Healthy Kids, Healthy Families
Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® (HKHF) is part of HCSC’s ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of the children and families across the states in which we operate. Throughout 2017, more than 1.2 million children were impacted as a result of our investments in nonprofit organizations that offer sustainable, measurable programs in the following areas:
We welcome the opportunity to partner with nonprofit organizations that share our goals, and we invite you to view the grants section of this page to learn more about how we can collaborate and to read about the programs supported through this effort. You are welcome to contact us or visit our Social Responsibility Report to view our most recent updates and activities through this initiative. We look forward to hearing from you.
Examples of major partners in each of our focus areas include:
Through our partnership with the American Lung Association, we work directly with health centers to improve the quality of care for children with asthma by engaging providers, community leaders and educators, resulting in improved long-term care outcomes.
Whether it’s providing an Imagination Playground in a Cart™ to the Borderland Boys & Girls Club in New Mexico, or supporting Chicago’s bike-sharing program and Maggie Daley Park, we are committed to providing safe places to walk, run, bike and play.
Our Care Vans® travel throughout our states to increase access to care for children and adults in underserved communities.
We partner with 26 local food banks and other key organizations in our communities to eliminate food insecurity and remove barriers to adequate nutrition.
If your organization shares our goal of improving the health and wellness of children and their families through nutrition, physical activity, disease prevention and management or supporting safe environments, we invite you to apply online.
In addition to aligning with one or more of our four areas of focus, the following criteria are required for review of all grant proposals:
- The organization must hold a 501(c)(3) tax status
- The grant must directly impact individuals in one of the following states: Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma or Texas
- The program must be measurable and demonstrate how the goals will be met as defined in the grant proposal
As of August 2016, Health Care Service Corporation and its individual state health insurance plans are unable to fund organizations or projects with written policies that discriminate against individuals based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious creed, national origin, physical or mental disability, or protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.
HCSC’s grants management platform is getting better. As we work to modernize our technology at HCSC, we are upgrading our grants management platform to make it easier to use. We’re working with a new vendor to give our partners a better platform and hope that this change will give your organization a streamlined and efficient process, leading to more time with communities where we live, work and play. Starting November 18, our system will be unavailable. Please check back in early 2019 for updates.
